Severe Weather Alerts in Mar del Plata

The Secretary of Security of Mar del Plata, Rodrigo Goncálvez, expressed the importance of being prepared for possible weather phenomena to prevent negative impacts such as heavy rains, strong winds, and hail. Goncálvez also showed solidarity with the residents of Bahía Blanca after a severe storm that claimed the lives of six people and caused the evacuation of nearly 300.

The National Meteorological Service issued a warning for rain and severe storms in Mar del Plata, with predictions of heavy precipitation, wind gusts that could exceed 90 km/h, and possible hail. An accumulation of 100 mm is expected in the southeast, with preventive measures already implemented.

In light of this situation, the Union of Automotive Tramway Workers (UTA) announced that buses will cease operation from 6 PM due to the weather alert. Service suspension will extend until 6 AM on Saturday, March 8. Additionally, the Municipality of General Pueyrredón decided to cancel afternoon and evening classes in all schools, as well as all scheduled mass events.

Rodrigo Goncálvez emphasized in a press conference held at the Operations and Monitoring Center the seriousness of the predicted weather phenomenon, starting at 6 PM.
